My magic experience (continued...)
After seeing Coperfield on stage I was very intrigued of all he did. I knew he is only human and he must have done all those things through skill, knowledge and gimicks of some sort. Therefore I started a quest to find the answer to some of his secrets.
My first stop was obviously the internet and it took me a few full days until I found something relevant to my searches (nowadays it's a lot easier to find magic related info due to Blaine's & Angel's popularity). Anyhow, I found an online magic store from where I rodered my first tricks. These 2 were the tricks that launched me into the world of magic, the world of secrets and entertainment. I would recommend them to anyone.
What were the magic tricks? Well, the first one was the "flying card". It has many names, but basically it is a gimmick that allows you to float playing cards around you, lift credit card or pull paper napkins towards you. It was and still is a very good trick and not very hard to master.
The second trick was a very well chosen one because it revealed to me how many other card tricks are made. It was called the invisible deck. The effect is that you have an entire deck full of blank cards (back & front) and all of a sudden, whenever you want to, you can make a card appear in the entire blank deck. Not only that but by the end of your performance you can turn the entire blank deck into a normal one.
Anyhow, these tricks are not that expensive and I recommend them to anyone who whants to learn a little bit of magic.

Card magic - Rasputin's secret
The effect: A deck of cards is shown and is shuffled. Three spectators are required to help you demonstrate your mastery of the past, present and future.
The first spectator selects a card, looks at it and returns it in the deck.
"A card was chosen, but now it is back from where it came from. It all took place in the past", you tell your audience.
You write a message on a paper, fold it and write PAST on its back.
The second spectator takes a card and puts in in his pocket without seeing the card. "You chose a card and hidden it in your pocket. It remains in the present." You write something on another paper, fold it and label it PRESENT.
"Before we continue, I will look into the future to ascertain an event yet to take place." You write on the third piece of paper, fold it and label it as FUTURE. The final spectator chooses a card and sets it aside on the table.
The first participant is asked what card he chose. He tells everyone it was, for example, the 5 of clubs. The paper marked PAST is opened and it is written "Jim chose 5 of clubs". The second person removes the card from his pocket and it was, for example, 9 of diamonds. The PRESENT paper is opened and it is written 9 od diamonds on it. The remaining paper (FUTURE) is opened and it says "Tom will choose 4 of hearts). The third person turn the card over and it is the 4 of hearts.
Not a bad trick, right? Wonder how it's done?
